Estate planning is a topic that no one wants to discuss but is an important part of preparing for the inevitable.  One one level, it sets a plan in place for a trusted person of your choosing to bequeath and devise your assets to loved ones, friends, religious organizations and charities. On another level, it provides you with a plan in the event you are incapacitated and cannot make or execute financial, health care and end of life decisions for your self.

Though none of these are pleasant topics to consider, having a plan in place will put you and your family at ease.

Once in place, an estate plan should be periodically reviewed to be sure it is still current with your wishes and property ownership. In other words, life events like weddings, birth of a child, death of a loved one, divorce, sale or purchase of real or personal property are all good reasons to review your current estate plan or establish one with your attorney.
